My new smartwatch bricked itself during a firmware update last Tuesday

I was installing the new system update for my Garmin Venu 2, and it just froze at 78%. The screen went black and it wouldn't turn back on no matter what I tried. I spent the next three days going back and forth with support, who finally said I had to mail it in. Has anyone else had a gadget completely die from a routine update?

So they're making you mail it in for a bricked update. Did they even hint at covering the shipping costs, or are they sticking you with that bill too? That's the kind of nickel and diming that really shows how a company treats customers when their own update process fails.

Scared to update" seems like an overreaction, honestly.

My buddy's brand new Samsung tablet did the exact same thing last month. It was a Galaxy Tab S9 and it just died at 65% during an OS update. He had to send it off to some repair center in Texas and was without it for almost two weeks. They sent it back with a note saying the main board was fried. Makes you scared to even hit the update button anymore.
