My sister-in-law looked at my smartwatch and asked why I was letting it boss me around

My Apple Watch actually helped me spot a weird heart rate thing last year, got me to see a doctor. I see what @theas28 is saying about the guilt, but for me it's more like a quiet heads-up, not a boss. My sister-in-law would probably call my phone a boss too for the calendar alerts. It's just a tool, and I set the goals, so I'm still the one in charge.

Honestly, the whole "boss you around" thing feels a bit over the top. It's a watch, not a drill sergeant. Like @davis.olivia said, it's just a tool that gives you info. If my microwave beeps at me to take my food out, I don't feel guilty, I just get my lunch. People give these gadgets way too much power over their feelings.

Ever read that article about how fitness trackers can make you feel guilty? Your sister-in-law might be onto something.
