Choosing between the Oak Island money pit and the Somerton Man for my final paper

Had to pick one unsolved case for a 10 page history paper last semester. It was between the Oak Island treasure hunt and the Somerton Man mystery. I went with the Somerton Man, mostly because the timeline is tighter, from 1948 to now. Spent about three weeks down a rabbit hole of code pages and missing labels. The weird part was how many solid leads just stop cold. Anyone else get stuck on a case where the clues seem to point everywhere and nowhere at once?

Good call on Somerton Man. The code page with the Persian words always felt like a real key that got lost. Those cold leads are the worst part, like the suitcase with the missing labels.

Wasn't the code page in Tamam Shud?

Totally agree about the lost key feeling. I once got obsessed with a local missing persons case where a receipt had a phone number smudged. We spent weeks trying different light angles and filters on a scan, and one digit change opened up a whole new line of inquiry. Sometimes you just need that one tiny piece to click.
