Spent an hour on my shed door hinges and now it's worse... what gives?

But hold on, sometimes you gotta force things a bit. Hinges are made of metal for a reason, they can take some bending. If the door was out of line, a little tweak might have been the only way to get it shut. I've fixed my own shed door by bending the hinge plate just enough to catch. What if the real problem was the wood frame warping, not the hinges at all? How do you know you made it worse and didn't just uncover the actual issue?

Oh, bending the hinge plate on purpose? That's a bold move. I've seen people try that and end up with a door that swings like a drunk sailor. Metal can bend, sure, but it also gets weak and fatigued. You might get it to catch once, but next time you slam it shut in the wind, that bent spot is giving out for good. It's like fixing a leaky pipe with chewing gum.

Caught a segment on the Home Fix show about shed doors. They said forcing hinges can bend the metal. Might have tweaked something out of place.

Seriously, bending the METAL? That's wild. I never knew hinges could give out like that.
