That coffee shop owner in Portland changed my whole take on pricing
I used to think you had to charge less than your competitors to get customers. Then I talked to a guy who runs a small roastshop in Portland and he said he actually raised his prices by 30% last year and his sales went up. He told me "people pay for consistency and story, not cheap beans." Has anyone else found that charging more actually brought in better clients?

Raised my freelance rates 20% last year, got five better clients in two months.

That guy's totally right... I had a similar thing happen with my own small gig. Raised my prices by about 25% and the clients who showed up were way more chill and actually paid on time. Cheap prices just attract cheap people who complain about everything.

Wait, did you notice a big difference in how people treated you after the price change? For me, it was NIGHT and day. I used to get people haggling over every little thing and expecting me to work miracles for pennies. But when I raised my rates by about 30%, the whole vibe shifted. The clients who came in were way more respectful and actually listened to my advice instead of arguing. Plus, they'd pay without me having to chase them down which was a HUGE relief. Honestly, I wish I'd done it sooner because it saved me so much stress and made the work actually fun again.
