TIL my book club's spoiler hint led to a huge ethics fight

Man, Jake's totally onto something with that voting idea. We tried that in my club last year and it saved so many headaches. We ended up with a three tier system: no spoilers ever for new books, spoilers okay after 10 years for popular stuff, and anything over 30 years is just open season. Having it written down means nobody can pretend they forgot the rules.

My manager's rule to reuse envelopes led to us mailing a birthday card in a cereal box... post office was confused but we stayed under budget.

Wondering if the real issue is how those foil-lined bags move through sorting machines. (Like @olivia_white93's chip bag, the crinkly shape might not slide on the belts right.) I read that flat, stiff envelopes are meant to not jam things up, so a puffy bag could definitely cause a hiccup in the system beyond just a clerk's confused look.

Put soap on a plate thinking it was parmesan

Stored decorative soaps in a clear jar with a label after my cousin almost ate one. It was shaped like a lemon and sat in a fruit bowl, totally confusing. Tbh, just putting a "SOAP" sticker on the jar saved a lot of trouble. @rowan_lane, your hotel cookie soap story shows how common this is. Honestly, now I keep all fancy soaps far from where we eat.

My cousin's messy divorce made me see through celebrity family apologies

What gets me is how the scripted public talk can poison the well at home. Like @the_hugo said, the real work happens off camera, but if your kid sees you giving a performance online, it might make any private talk after feel just as fake to them. You're not just managing news, you're changing how your family hears your voice, you know?

PSA: My concrete timing guesses were a total fail until an app stepped in

The 'hardened too fast' problem TOTALLY ruined my friend's patio, cracking all over from the heat.
