Leaving brushes in water seems like a quick fix, but it ruins the bristles over time. The constant soaking makes them fall out or lose shape. You also get that nasty mildew smell in the jar after a few days. Taking the time to clean and dry them properly actually saves money on replacements.

Yeah the gypsum thing is real. I mean I tried it with some old drywall in my flower beds last year and it actually helped.
