inTIL my circular saw cuts straighter than any miter saw I've owned
Beyond apps, this happens with all kinds of tools. Like, I know folks who still use old software for editing because they learned it years ago, even though newer options are faster and easier. The time needed to learn something new feels like a big hurdle, so they just keep with what works, even if it's not the best. It's a mix of comfort and not wanting to waste time on change.

inPSA: The buzz about a famous actor shooting a movie on my street is wrong. I checked with the city permits office, and it's just a commercial for local insurance.
Always call the film office directly, they have the real schedule. Last year my friend wasted a whole day because some blog said a famous director was in town, but it was just a TV ad. Permits are PUBLIC record, so you can look them up online in most cities. If someone says they're filming, ask to see the permit paperwork. Legit crews will have it on hand. Saves so much time and stops you from chasing ghosts.

inMore boats in the area are switching to electric thrusters
Yeah, the part about battery banks is so true... a buddy of mine runs a survey boat and they switched his to electric last fall. He loved the quiet until he tried a full day of station-keeping in a stiff current. The system just shut down by mid-afternoon... they totally misjudged the drain. Had to get a tow back to the dock, which was pretty embarrassing for a pro. He says it's great now, but they had to double the battery setup after that.
