DAE feel weird that AI used to just play games, now it's doing my job?

It's handy, but are we trading skills for convenience?

Totally get that feeling. It's like how everyone just uses self checkouts now without even thinking about it, you know? Feels like we're all slowly handing off little bits of knowing how to do stuff.

Honestly, I was all for self-checkouts because they saved time. But @amy_coleman, your comment about handing off bits of knowing really CHANGED my view. I noticed I barely remember how to count back change correctly anymore. We're letting go of simple skills without even realizing it, and that's KIND of a big deal. I used to believe all new tech was better, but now I see we might be losing something BASIC. It sneaks up on you until one day you can't do a simple task without a machine helping.

Ugh, that reminds me of my friend at her kid's bake sale last week. She was totally flustered trying to make change without the machine telling her what to give back... just staring at the coins in her hand. The cashier box was a mess and she ended up short. It's exactly what @amy_coleman said, handing off that bit of knowing. We don't even practice simple math with cash anymore, and then you're just stuck when the screen goes blank. Kind of scary when you really stop to look at it.
