Tried two AI art tools for a comic project and the results were night and day
I was working on a short comic last month and needed consistent character art. I tried using a popular free AI image generator first, but the character's face kept changing in every panel. Then I switched to a tool called Midjourney with their new 'character reference' feature. It cost me about $30 for the month, but the character stayed the same across all 12 images. The difference was having a tool built for consistency versus one just making cool single pictures. Has anyone else found an AI feature that totally changed their workflow for a creative project?

My buddy had a similar thing happen with his D&D group. He was making custom character portraits for everyone using a free generator. Every time he tried to get a new pose for the elf ranger, she looked like a totally different person. He finally caved and used a paid tool with a style lock feature. It cost him maybe fifteen bucks, but the look on his players' faces when they saw their characters stay the same was worth it. Sometimes the free stuff just can't do the specific job you need done.

Tell that to knight.uma when his elf has three different faces.

Spending $30 for a month of consistent art seems steep for a hobby project. The free tools are good enough for most people just messing around. It's not like you're getting paid for this comic.
