That washer drain pump on a Samsung took me 4 hours when it should have been 45 minutes
Got a call last week for a Samsung that wouldn't drain. Pulled the pump, checked the impeller, all clear. Tested continuity, fine. Spent 2 hours chasing wires and checking the control board before I realized the drain hose had a clog way up near the standpipe. First time I've seen a clog that high. Felt like an idiot. Has anyone else dealt with a Samsung drain issue that turned out to be something dumb like that?

@gracethomas totally nailed it. I had almost the exact same thing happen on a Samsung dryer that was throwing a drain error code. Spent a solid 45 minutes testing the pump and the board connections before I spotted a sock wedged in the rubber boot right where the hose connects to the standpipe. Felt like a rookie mistake after all that testing. Now I always start at the very end of the drain hose and work backwards just like she said. That trick has saved me so much headache on Samsung machines.

Happens to the best of us man. Honestly I gotta push back a little though. Four hours is a lot for a drain issue on a Samsung. Once you know those machines love to clog weird spots, a quick check of the whole drain path from pump to standpipe is usually my first move now. Saves chasing ghosts on the board, which is a total time suck. So yeah, it's a dumb fix but learning that trick early saves you hours next time.

Dude, reminds me of the time my buddy spent THREE HOURS tracking down a rattle in his dryer. Pulled the whole thing apart, checked the drum rollers, the belt, all of it. Turned out to be a loose penny rattling around in the lint trap housing. Just sitting there, mocking him. Now I always shake the lint trap holder thingy first before I even pull the machine out. Such a simple thing but you just dont think about it until its too late.
