I finally hit 1,000 days on Duolingo this morning
Started learning Spanish back in 2021 just for fun and somehow kept going every single day. Saw the 1,000 day badge pop up on my phone and had to stop and think about all those mornings. I can actually order food and have simple conversations now with my neighbor from Mexico City. Never thought I'd stick with something like that for so long. Anyone else get surprised by a big milestone they didn't plan for?

Congratulate yourself on that thousand day streak, that is a real accomplishment. It is funny how small daily habits add up without you even noticing. I did something similar with walking, just a mile every morning, and suddenly hit 500 days last month. The neighbor conversations are the best proof it worked, real life practice beats any app.

Eh, I don't know. I feel like streaks can turn into just going through the motions. I did 200 days of Duolingo once and realized I was just clicking buttons to keep the number going, not actually learning anything. The walking thing makes more sense since you're outside and seeing people, but the streak itself? Not sure it matters that much.

Damn, that actually makes a lot of sense when you put it that way. I used to roll my eyes at the streak stuff, thought it was just gamification BS. But the walking thing really clicked for me, I started doing 10 minutes of stretching every night just to see if I could, and now I've got almost 300 days and actually feel way better in the mornings. The real world progress sneaks up on you.
