Switched to synthetic transmission fluid in my 2015 Accord and the difference was immediate

I put 80,000 miles on conventional fluid and the shifts always felt sluggish, especially in cold weather. Changed to Royal Purple synthetic last week and the car shifts smooth at 30 degrees now. Did anyone else see a real change after switching fluid types?

No way man, I had almost the same thing happen with a buddy of mine and his 2012 Civic. He was running the cheapest fluid he could find for years and his car felt like it was gonna fall apart every time it dropped below 40 degrees. I kept telling him to just try a good synthetic but he was stubborn as hell about it. Finally last winter he switched to Red Line after I basically forced him to watch a YouTube video about it. He texted me the next morning saying his car actually felt like it had a working transmission for the first time in like 5 years.

Did your buddy ever try that same swap? I had a friend with an old Mazda 3 who kept using the cheap stuff for like 100,000 miles. His shifts got real clunky in the winter, felt like you were rowing through mud. He finally put in Amsoil after I kept bugging him about it. The next week he said the car actually moved smoothly from a dead stop on a cold morning. He was shocked how much grit and grime came out when he drained the old fluid. I think most people just don't realize how much heat beats up that fluid over time until they swap it out.

And yeah @grantw41, that's pretty much what happened with his Civic after he ran the cheap stuff too long. The synchros felt like they were fighting you in the cold until he finally did a proper drain and fill.
