The difference between a 30 year old lift and a new one is bigger than I thought
I worked at a shop in Denver for 7 years that had these old Rotary lifts from the 80s. They worked fine, you just had to give them a little help sometimes. Last month I went solo and bought a brand new BendPak lift for my own garage. The arms glide smooth, the locks catch perfect every time, and it lifts a truck in half the time. Has anyone else noticed how much easier a new lift makes the job, or is it just me?

Older tools make you work harder, newer tools make you work smarter.

the arms glide smooth" - that's the part that got me. Man, my old lift was like fighting a stuck drawer every time I tried to move the arms. I got a new one last year and it's night and day, seriously. Just the time saved on alignment alone is worth it.

Gotta disagree with you there, Brooke. Those smooth gliding arms are overrated in my book. My old lift took a little muscle to move around, sure, but it never budged an inch once I had things set. I've seen too many of these newfangled smooth ones drift on their own after a few years, throwing off the whole alignment. Plus, that "stuck drawer" feel actually kept my pads from shifting when I was trying to get the position just right. You trade a little bit of elbow grease for a whole lot of stability, if you ask me.
