I finally zapped a connector on a Garmin G500 without bricking it

Had a G1000 backup fail mid-flight over Wichita last Tuesday, traced it to a corroded pin in the PFD harness, and after 3 tries with the DMM I just hit it with contact cleaner and a gentle re-crimp, has anyone else had luck saving those pins instead of pulling the whole tray?

Man, THAT is the kind of fix that feels better than a new tray. Nice save.

Tbh @the_jake I had to read that twice. Wait, did that guy actually use zip ties to fix a broken frame? Ngl I've seen people rig up some wild stuff but thats a whole new level of desperation. Honestly thought he'd just cracked the corner or something but zip ties holding the whole thing together is insane.

Man I've used zip ties for some questionable stuff before but that's on another level... like I had a buddy whose truck bumper was held together with them for like two years and it actually worked fine but a car frame? That's the kind of fix where you pray every time you hit a bump. Maybe the guy was just really committed to avoiding a mechanic bill...
