Noticed a massive shift in how our shop handles wiring bundles after one bad audit

Back in 2019, we had a FAA audit that flagged like 12 of our harnesses for improper tie spacing. Supervisor was pissed. So we switched from doing it by eye to using a spacing template I made from scrap aluminum. Now every bundle uses that template and we cut our rework rate from 15% down to under 2% in about 6 months. It sounds simple but it made a huge difference in consistency. Has anyone else found a cheap fix like that that changed how you work?

Man, isn't it wild how one bad audit can turn everything upside down? We had the same thing happen with our solder joints back in 2018 after a customer inspection. Our boss took a marker and drew little dots on our workbenches where we had to rest our iron, so everyone stayed consistent. It felt dumb at first, but our cold solder issues dropped to almost zero within a few months. Sometimes the simplest fixes are the best ones, right?
