That old crimp tool I thought was junk turned out to be a lifesaver

I found a beat up DMC crimper at a garage sale in Tucson last year for $10. Figured it was just some junk but the jaws looked good so I grabbed it. Took it to the shop last week to test on some D-sub pins and it crimps tighter than my new one. Guess the old USA made stuff really is better sometimes. Anybody else got an old tool that surprised them?

Whoa, wait. You found a DMC crimper at a garage sale for ten bucks? That's insane. Those things are like the gold standard for military and aerospace work. I can't believe someone just let that go for pocket change. The older DMC tools are built like tanks, way tougher than the newer plastic handled stuff. You basically stole that thing, no kidding.

Find a guy who knows his tools, his family probably just wanted it gone. Happens all the time with old trade gear, people don't know what they're sitting on. Garage sales are full of that stuff if you know where to look.

lee689 you got it right but those DMC crimpers at garage sales usually go for more like $5-$15 not $10, and @simon_carr is spot on about the older ones being way better than the new plastic junk.
