TIL that hot weather can mess up your avionics readings more than bad equipment can
I was working on a G1000 install on a Cessna 172 out in Phoenix last August. The ambient temp was 112 degrees and I couldn't get the pitot-static system to pass the leak test no matter what I did. I swapped out three different transducers and even replaced a section of line before my buddy suggested I just wait until dark and try again. After sundown at 85 degrees the whole system passed on the first try. Has anyone else dealt with temperature throwing off your test equipment or is this just a desert thing?

Felt that pain - I once blamed my multimeter for acting up in Tucson only to realize the heat was just making it lie to me like a bad friend.

wait, Tucson? like you were out in the actual heat working on something? that's wild, I didn't even think about that kind of thing happening in that kinda weather. were you just like, sweating through the whole thing?

Yeah same thing happened to me working on a King Air in Vegas last July, heat messes everything up.

Honestly, I used to be one of those people who thought heat was no big deal for tools and stuff. This thread made me rethink that completely lol.
