Why does nobody talk about Garmin G5 failures in high vibration aircraft?

I had a Garmin G5 go completely blank on me last Thursday during a run-up in a 1978 Beechcraft Duchess out of KPAO. The screen just flickered and died, no warning flags or anything. I've heard some guys say the internal gyro can't handle the twin engine shake, but others say it's a solid unit. Has anyone else had a G5 fail on them in a piston twin or did I just get a lemon?

Man that's brutal, I feel for you losing a screen during a run-up like that.

A buddy of mine who does avionics work at KSQL told me he's seen three G5's come back from twin Cessnas with similar problems, all with the internal attitude reference dying after a few hundred hours. He said the vibration from those engines seems to rattle the gyro loose or confuse the sensor, and Garmin's official line is usually just "replace it." Your mileage may vary, but I've heard enough stories now to be cautious about putting one in a Duchess.

That's rough, man. You ever think Garmin knows about this but just doesn't care?
