Neighbor told me my fence storage rack was an eyesore - changed the whole design

Last summer I built a storage rack on my back fence for garden tools and hoses. Neighbor came over and said it looked cluttered and messy from their side. I was annoyed at first but then looked at it from their yard. He was right. So I took it down and built a slim cabinet that mounts flush with the fence. Now all the tools hide behind a painted door that matches the fence. Has anyone else had a neighbor give feedback that actually improved your setup?

Man I would have probably doubled down out of spite and built an even uglier rack just to prove a point. But you actually listened and ended up with something cleaner, that's basically the opposite of how these things usually go. Maybe your neighbor owes you a beer for saving you from your own bad design.

@kai_burns73 that's exactly how it went for me with my fence last year, swallowing your pride works better than burning bridges.

Yeah I was reading the other day that most people's first instinct is to get defensive and double down. You're right though it takes a real man to admit your first idea was garbage and actually make it better.
