PSA: A coffee break chat with my coworker about his garage sale pile made me rethink my shed.

I was just stuffing things in boxes to hide the mess. Now I label everything and it saves so much time when I need a tool.

Yeah, but @taylor_patel has a point about labels becoming clutter. I tried a label maker and it was overkill for my shed. Now I just use a fat sharpie right on the plastic bins. It fades after a while, but by then I know where everything is anyway. The real win is just having a dedicated spot for each type of tool.

How do you do your labels? I started with a marker on tape and it's a game changer lol

You just use regular tape. The cheap stuff always peels the paint off my shelves. That's a bold move.

Labels can become their own clutter though. I put sticky notes on everything once and spent more time reading them than finding stuff. Sometimes the pile just needs a better pile.
