DAE remember when pitmasters just tossed their wood scraps after a cook?
I was helping my uncle clean his old BBQ spot last weekend. Back then, we'd burn any wood we found and never thought about replanting. Now, I see folks using wood from managed forests or even growing their own. It's a good change, but it makes me think about how casual things used to be. Do you try to use sustainable wood sources too?

My local hardware store actually ran out of applewood last month because everyone's trying to source locally now. Guess that old casual way just isn't an option anymore.

My cousin tried to build a planter box last spring and ended up using old fence boards from a neighbor's teardown. It was a whole thing finding wood that wasn't pressure-treated.

Back then, just grabbing whatever wood was around probably wrecked some local ecosystems. Now we have to play detective with our suppliers to ensure it's legit sustainable. Totally a drag, but better than making things worse.

Yeah, it really was a different time... makes you wonder if that casual attitude hurt local forests in the long run. When you say you try to use sustainable wood, how far do you go to check? Like, do you actually ask your supplier where it comes from, or is it more about trusting a label? Feels like it takes real effort to track that stuff down.
