That electric smoker I bought failed mid-brisket at 3AM
Was doing an overnight smoke on a 14 pound brisket at my buddy's place near Austin. The Masterbuilt digital controller just went blank around 2:30AM, temp dropped from 225 to 140 in like 20 minutes. I had to finish it in his kitchen oven with a probe alarm set. Has anyone else had a controller die on them like that or did I just get a lemon?

Doubt it's a lemon sounds like a known issue with those Masterbuilt controllers. Check the fuses inside the unit first before you toss it, had a buddy's fail the same way and a blown fuse was all it was.

Pop the back off and look for the small glass fuses near where the power cord comes in. I've seen those things blow from a little moisture or a power surge and it's like a 50 cent fix. If one's blown you can grab a multi-pack at the auto parts store for like 3 bucks. Just make sure you unplug it first obviously. Worked on a couple of these for buddies and that's always the first thing I check.

Fifty cent fix" you say? I'd be shocked if that's all it is these days, everything else costs an arm and a leg to repair. That's good to know though, I might crack mine open and check before I give up on it.
