Had to choose between PVA and wheat paste for a restoration job...

I was rebinding a 1920s poetry collection for a library in Philly and couldn't decide which adhesive to use. I ended up going with wheat paste because it's reversible, but the drying time took forever... has anyone else had trouble with it warping thin pages?

Light coat on both sides. Stack and press flat.

More power to you if you have the patience for that... but I've tried stacking and pressing and it always seems to slide apart on me no matter how careful I am. Maybe I'm using the wrong kind of coat or something, but it's never been that serious for me to stress over every single layer. Like, are we talking about a basic craft project or building a miniature house here? Just seems like a lot of effort for something that's probably gonna get messed up in a week anyway.

My buddy Tyler tried that exact method @hannah_west39 mentioned and it worked great for him. He was building one of those big layered cardboard Halloween props and everything kept shifting. He finally did the light coat on both sides trick and pressed it between two heavy books for maybe ten minutes and it held solid. No sliding at all once he let it sit. I think the key is you have to actually wait for it to tack up a bit before stacking. Most people rush it and that's where stuff goes wrong.
