Hit 50 different fern species in my backyard collection and it got me thinking

On one side, it's a cool personal win and shows dedication. On the other, some might say it's just hoarding plants and not really learning about them. What's your take on collecting vs. deep study?

Hah, I probably wrote that blog post after my last attempt. Let me tell you, my own advice looks great on a screen but falls apart in my kitchen. I followed some fancy guide to the letter last weekend and still managed to create a small disaster. It's one of those things that seems so simple until you're standing there wondering where it all went wrong.

Tell me about it, I've had that exact thing happen with grilling guides. The instructions make perfect sense until you're staring at charred chicken wondering what step you missed. Maybe some things just don't translate from a screen to real life.
