Showerthought: I always thought houseplants were just for looks
Visited my friend's place in Austin last month. Saw her talking to her fiddle leaf fig, checking the soil. Said 'it just likes the company'. Started doing it with my spider plant. Seems happier. Anyone else talk to their plants?
Oh man, I read something about this a while back. Some study said the carbon dioxide from your breath when you talk can be a tiny bit helpful for them. Mostly though, it just makes you pay more attention to what the plant needs. You notice the dry soil or the weird leaf faster. My peace lily definitely perked up when I started giving it some casual chatter.
