I finally tried cooking dried beans instead of canned ones for a month straight

I got tired of spending $2.50 a can on black beans at the grocery store here in Portland, so I bought a 5 pound bag of dried ones for $4.50. The trade off is you have to soak them overnight and cook them for like 90 minutes, but I swear they taste way better and you get way more for your money. My question is: is the extra time and effort actually worth it for you, or do you stick with canned for convenience?

Oh hold on, you soaked them overnight AND cooked them for 90 minutes? I have to know what your schedule looks like during the week. Are you doing this on a work night or just batch cooking on weekends?

Hold on @emmaking, it's really not that hard if you just soak them the night before and start the pot right when you get home.

Yeah @emmaking I do this exact thing but on sundays. I'll soak em Friday night actually, drain em Saturday morning and just keep em in the fridge. Then Sunday afternoon I throw em in the pot with bacon and onions and let em simmer while I clean the kitchen. Takes like 2 hours tops and I got greens for half the week. Saves me from rush hour nonsense.
