That bulk rice from the Asian market was a total bust

I bought a 25 pound bag of jasmine rice from H Mart last month because everyone says bulk is cheaper. Problem is it had little bugs in it after two weeks that I didn't notice until I was rinsing it for dinner. Lost like $18 and now I'm back to buying the smaller bags from Aldi.

Whoa, did you check the bag's expiration date before you bought it?

Ugh that is so frustrating. I had the same thing happen with a 10 pound bag of basmati from a different Asian market last year, little weevils in the bottom half of the bag I didn't catch until I was scooping some out. It's such a bummer because you're trying to be smart and save money, then you end up throwing out a whole bag. Some people say you can freeze the rice for a few days to kill any eggs before storing it, but honestly after finding bugs in it once I get paranoid and just stick to the smaller bags too. Hope the Aldi stuff treats you better.

Right? I figure if I'm gonna find bugs in my food I'd rather it be small portions so I don't cry as much throwing it out.
