A bus driver in Lisbon told me to buy a 7-day transit pass instead of single tickets
I was about to spend 1.85 euros per ride, but the pass was only 22 euros for unlimited travel on trams, buses, and the metro. It paid for itself after about 12 trips, and I ended up using it to hop on and off all week without worrying about the cost. Has anyone found a similar transit deal in another city that saved a bunch of money?

But what if you don't actually take twelve trips? That pass locks you into using their system all week just to feel like you got a deal. I've bought those passes before and then changed my plans, wasted a day, or just walked more, and I ended up losing money. Sometimes paying as you go gives you more freedom to be spontaneous without the pressure to "get your money's worth.

Totally get that! I switched to paying per ride last year and it just fits how I actually live. I don't feel tied down to a plan and I save money on lazy days.

Honestly it's just a bus pass lol, not some life changing money hack. If you ride a lot it works, if you don't then it doesn't. People are acting like picking the wrong ticket option is a major financial mistake.
