Heard a guy at the hostel gate check his bag and it blew my mind
I was waiting for a bus in Bangkok and some dude told the front desk he only packs a 20 liter daypack for two week trips. He said he does laundry every 4 days at a local spot for like $2. I tried it on my last trip to Chiang Mai, threw out my big suitcase, and saved 30 bucks on airline fees alone. Has anyone else downsized their bag like that and actually stuck with it?

That "20 liter daypack for two weeks" part got me. I tried something similar last year and honestly it's freeing but laundry every 4 days gets old fast unless you're somewhere hot where things dry quick. I did it in Vietnam and was fine, but tried it in Japan and regretted it because drying took forever in the humidity. Still worth it for the carry on savings though.

Laundry math is easy until you're hanging damp socks in a hotel bathroom at 11pm.

Did you try the towel trick or just hang everything?
