Warning: a hostel owner in Budapest told me I was packing WAY too much stuff

I showed up with this huge 65 liter backpack and the guy just laughed at me. He said I only needed half that for a two week trip because I could just wash clothes at most hostels for like $3. Now I travel with a 35 liter bag and it's SO much easier to move around.

Wait, is that really how you see it though? I mean, sometimes "different strokes" can kind of gloss over where someone might be missing the point. Like, if someone's argument is based on bad facts, it's okay to gently push back and explain why.
