Why does nobody talk about the sheer boredom of waiting for fare drops?

I monitored a route for months until the price fell. Friends call it dedication, I call it a dull way to live. On one hand, the savings were real. On the other, I could have booked earlier and spent that time planning the trip instead. Is the vigil worth the vacation cash?

Totally get what thomas718 means about the hunt being part of the game. Felt the same way stalking flight prices for my last trip, and honestly that final cheap booking felt like winning a prize.

Spend way too much time chasing deals myself, it’s basically my weird sport at this point.

Hold up, calling it a total waste might miss the point. For some folks, the hunt itself is part of the fun, like a game. The waiting builds up the excitement for the trip you finally book.

So you got the cheap fare, but do you ever look back and feel like you traded too much of your free time just to save that money? I mean, months is a long time to have that tab open, checking it like a chore. I wonder if the trip itself feels different when you finally go, or if all that waiting just makes you tired before you even leave.
