6 months of tracking every single takeout order changed my view
Honestly, I started tracking my spending on DoorDash and Uber Eats back in January just out of curiosity. I live in Portland and figured it was maybe $80 a month, nothing crazy. After 6 months I sat down and added it all up and it came to $427. Not the end of the world, but seeing that number hit me different than just swiping my card each time. The thing that caused it was I got lazy with meal prepping on Sundays and just defaulted to ordering when I didn't plan. Now I force myself to cook even a simple rice bowl and I bank the difference into a separate account. Has anyone else done a deep dive on a single spending category and been surprised by the total?

$427 for DoorDash? Man, that's way less than I would have guessed for Portland prices - I expected it to be closer to a thousand after six months. Did you actually stick to just one order a week or were there some cheap spots you found?

Wait, did you really only have one bagel delivered from across town just for free cream cheese? That's kind of hilarious actually. I mean I get it, sometimes you just want that specific thing and the delivery fee feels worth it in the moment. But $427 over six months sounds pretty reasonable for Portland though, especially if you're not doing it every day. I bet half that cost was probably just tips and fees too. What was the most you ever spent on a single order?

Ha, nope. I once ordered a single bagel from across town just to get the free cream cheese.
