Finally got my grocery bill under $75 a week after years of chaos
I used to just wander the aisles and grab whatever looked good, easily spending $130 every trip. About 3 months ago I started planning 5 meals on Sunday and only buying those ingredients. It cut my spending in half and I'm not throwing away spoiled food anymore. Has anyone else found a simple switch that saved them a ton on food?

Oh man, that is huge! I did the same thing with meal planning and it was a total game changer. What also helped me was switching to store brands for basics like rice, beans, and spices, you really can't tell the difference. I found that just having a list and sticking to it stops so much impulse buying. It feels good to not waste money or food anymore.

My friend Mark tried store brand spices like you said, @jenny_lane12, and he was shocked. He bought the cheap garlic powder for his weekly chili and swore it tasted exactly the same. Said it cut like five bucks off his usual shop just from that one swap.

Lol five bucks is a win but is it really that deep? I get what @jenny_lane12 is saying but sometimes the name brand just hits different, you know?
