I finally compared my grocery delivery orders to my in-store receipts
After 6 months of using a delivery service, I decided to check the prices side by side. Turns out the store in Cleveland was charging me 35 cents more per item on average, and delivery fees added another $8. The convenience was nice, but I'm going back to doing my own shopping on Tuesday mornings.

Oh man, I had the exact same experience! I used FreshCart for about 4 months before I noticed the markup. For me it was especially bad on produce - they were charging 50 cents more per pound of apples and the bananas were always bruised. I started going to the store at 7am on Saturday mornings instead and now I save about $25 a week. The delivery was nice when I was sick, but for regular shopping, nothing beats picking out your own stuff and seeing the actual prices.

Did you ever try talking to their customer service about the markup or did you just switch right away?

Yeah same here, I cancelled after three months when I realized I was paying almost $30 more per order just for the convenience. I'd rather drive to the store myself than pay a premium for bruised avocados and sad lettuce.
