Unpopular opinion: That $50 cash envelope system binder was a waste of money for me

I spent a whole Saturday setting up those little envelopes with labels and dividers for groceries, gas, and fun money. Then I realized my wallet was too big for my purse and I kept leaving the binder at home. It took me 3 months to admit I just needed a simple notebook and a pen. Anyone else ditch the fancy system and go back to basics?

Blame the binder all you want but honestly that system worked great for me once I committed to actually using it every day instead of treating it like a decoration. Did you try cutting down your wallet size first before calling it a failure?

Wait, didn't you have to make your own sections first though? That part took me like three tries before I got it right. @emma_baker61 the spiral notebook thing actually makes more sense for quick notes, I might steal that idea. But anyway, the real trick with the binder is cutting down what you carry. I got mine down to just two cards and my ID. Then the binder actually had room to be useful instead of being a stuffed mess.

Same here. I tried that exact binder for 2 weeks and gave up. Now I just use a spiral notebook and track everything in one column. Way easier to carry around too.

Oh man, I feel this so hard. Went through the exact same thing.
