Was skeptical about that TikTok hack to ask for fresh fries at the drive thru but last week I tried it at a McDonald's in Phoenix and they actually made them right in front of me.

The other day I waited 6 minutes for my fries and by the time I got them I'd already finished my burger and had to eat them cold on the drive home... kinda defeated the whole point honestly.

DAE have to deal with homeowners who "helped" by moving the cable drop?

Three times last month alone. Three. @ryan793 I wish it was just "a little fuzzy" in my world. But yeah you pull a coax and suddenly the modem takes a dive, the TV signal splits weird, and now I'm tracing a squirrel nest of interference back to a bad connector you accidentally wiggled loose. Sure it's a five minute fix to someone who knows what to look for. But the homeowner is standing there watching me like I'm a magician pulling a rabbit out of a hat when all I did was finger tighten a fitting. It's not brain surgery no. But it's also not a lamp cord. Lamp cords don't have signal loss that picks up noise from the neighbor's microwave.

I finally tried that 'rock identification by licking' thing I saw online

Wait, do people REALLY walk around licking rocks to tell what they are? I mean I get that it's a legitimate field test but it sounds like something you'd do as a goof, not something you'd actually rely on for serious rock identification. Like, did the geology blog also suggest sniffing them or tapping them against your teeth to check the sound? I'm not saying it doesn't work but it's kind of funny how serious everyone is getting about this tongue trick when you could probably just look at the rock or check its texture with your fingers. Honestly, if you're in a situation where you need to lick a rock to figure out what it is, maybe step back and ask if you really need to know that badly.

Used to buy houseplants on impulse, now I wait a full month before committing

Did you catch that episode of On the Ledge where Darryl Cheng talked about shopping for plants with your brain instead of your eyes? It really changed how I look at buying houseplants now. I mean, it's so easy to fall for a pretty leaf and ignore its actual needs. Reading his stuff made me realize I was just wasting money on plants that were doomed from day one.

I paid $300 for a 'professional' ground penetrating radar scan of a field and it found a septic tank

Man, that is such a bummer but also kind of hilarious. Totally been there myself. A buddy of mine used one of those ground scanners out in his field looking for an old septic tank, and the thing screamed about a "large anomaly" about four feet down. We dug for a solid hour, sweating like crazy, and what did we pull up? An old cast iron bathtub, half full of mud and rocks. Felt like a real fool, but at least we didn't have to pay for it. Your neighbor's story makes my bathtub find look like a reasonable treasure hunt by comparison.
