Walked into a discount grocery in Toledo and saw people tossing out perfectly good bread at 9pm
Everyone raves about shopping late for markdowns, but I watched a guy ditch a whole loaf of bakery bread because it was 2 hours past the sell-by. That stuff is still fine for toast or breadcrumbs, you know? Am I the only one who thinks people get too picky about dates?

Wait, people actually throw out bread at a store just because of the time on a label? That's wild, like, it's not even expired yet, it's just past some arbitrary time stamp. I've kept bread way longer than that and it was fine for french toast or whatever.

Gotta disagree a bit here. In my experience, bread that's been sitting out all day at a discount store can get a weird texture or start to mold faster than you'd expect.
