Found out my bullet journal habit actually saved me $60 last month
I was flipping through my old bujo looking for a grocery list and noticed I had logged every time I bought coffee out. I added it up and realized I spent $80 on coffee in January, but only $20 in February after I started tracking it in my journal. Has anyone else been surprised by a random stat they found in their own bujo?

Actually I see that whole "saved me $60" thing a little differently. The coffee tracking is cool but the money wasn't really saved, you just spent it differently. Like if you bought $80 of coffee in January and $20 in February, that other $60 probably went somewhere else in your life, maybe snacks or takeout or something you didn't track. The journal is great for noticing patterns but I think people overstate the savings part. It's more like you became aware of one habit and shifted your spending around, not that you truly pocketed that cash. Tracking one thing doesn't mean the whole month's budget got better, it just means you moved the spending around.

A buddy of mine tracked his coffee spending for two months and swore he saved fifty bucks, then his wife found the receipts for all the gas station donuts.
