Tried a minimalist weekly layout. Total disaster.

Saw all those clean spreads on Instagram. Just pen and a ruler. Looked so easy. Three days in I had zero room for actual tasks. My schedule got buried. Stuck with it for a full week and missed a dentist appointment. Anyone else find those simple layouts way too restrictive?

Right? My minimalist layout became a passive-aggressive note to myself that said "DENTIST OOPS" in tiny handwriting I couldn't even read. Turns out a single line for "Tuesday" does not account for the chaos that is my actual life.

Why does every "simple" layout feel like it was designed by someone who has never had to do laundry on a Wednesday? @stella_scott96 is dead on about those Instagram spreads - they're basically fiction with a nice pen. I tried the "minimalist" thing once and ended up writing "buy milk, feed cat, remember to breathe" on top of each other in a panic. Those tiny boxes just don't work when your Tuesday involves a dentist appointment AND a surprise car repair. Real life needs a margin big enough for lies, cancellations, and the occasional "I forgot" written twice.

Those Instagram spreads are curated for likes, not real life - half the influencers probably scrap them after the photo. Real schedules need breathing room, not a minimalist prison.
