Had the worst Tuesday of my career pulling fiber in downtown Austin
I was trenching near a busy intersection and hit a abandoned gas line nobody marked, took out our whole crew's progress for 4 hours. My supervisor just shrugged and said 'welcome to utility work, kid' while I was standing in mud up to my ankles. Has anyone else dealt with unmarked lines that weren't on the blue stake request?

Blue stakes are just suggestions" - yeah, and my paint crew thinks ladders are optional too.

Ha! That's a good one! Seriously though, I've seen guys treat those stakes like friendly advice instead of actual rules. We had a crew hit a gas line once because they thought the marking was just a suggestion. Whole cul-de-sac smelled like a barbecue for two hours while the gas company showed up. At least with your paint crew, the only thing falling is a ladder, not your whole afternoon's work. Gotta love when people think the rules are just there to annoy them.
