I finally checked the date code on that spool of RG6 I've been using for 2 years

Turns out it expired back in 2018 and I found out after a customer in Phoenix showed me his signal levels dropped 15 dB since his last install last month, has anyone else ever bothered looking at those stamps?

Is it just me or does this kind of thing show up everywhere once you start looking? I mean, I found a can of beans in my pantry last week that expired in 2019 and I swore I bought it after that. It's like we all assume stuff lasts forever until something breaks or tastes weird. The cable thing is probably the same way - people just grab the spool and go, not thinking about the date until a customer's signal tanks.
