Pro tip: offset crimpers for tight spots in attics
I kept fighting with standard crimpers in tight attic spaces near the roof edge, so I picked up a pair of offset ones for $30. They let me get leverage without scraping my knuckles on rafters. Anyone else use a tool that feels like a cheat code for cramped areas?

Yeah those offset crimpers are a lifesaver. I had the same problem with standard ones in tight spots near the eves. Switched to a pair of long-reach needle nose pliers too, they help grab wires in places my fingers can't even fit.

Oh man, you're so right about the long-reach needle nose pliers! I didn't think of that combo, but it makes total sense. Once you get those offset crimpers in there, you still need something to actually grab and position the wires. I bet having both tools together would save so much frustration, especially near the eves where you're basically reaching blind. I'm definitely adding a pair of those to my tool box before my next project, thanks for the tip!

Yeah "grab wires in places my fingers can't even fit" hits hard - I've dropped so many tiny wires in those spots and had to fish them out with a coat hanger. One thing nobody mentions is how much easier it is if you use a headlamp with those tools, because once your hand is in that tight spot near the eves you can't see what you're doing. The combo of a headlamp, long reach pliers, and offset crimpers basically makes those awkward attic corners actually workable.
