Appreciation post: I gave up on a 'ruined' Hasselblad back after a single try

Everyone says you need to fight for every part, but after a full afternoon in Phoenix, I learned some mechanisms are just too far gone to save. Anyone have a reliable source for 500C/M film backs that aren't completely clapped out?

Ever notice how this applies to so much stuff? Like old cars or even friendships. You can pour time and love into something, but at a certain point, it's just broken. It's not giving up, it's knowing when to walk away and find something that actually works.

My old Toyota pickup hit that point at 280,000 miles. I kept fixing it until the repair bill was more than the truck was worth. @brooke_taylor44 is right, it's a skill to see that line between something you can save and something that's just eating your time for no good return.

That Hasselblad back might have just needed the right touch. I fixed one last year that sat in a damp garage for a decade, and now it runs smooth. The feeling when a stubborn piece finally clicks is worth the extra tries. I get what brooke_taylor44 is saying about knowing when to quit, but I've seen too many things brought back from the dead to agree. Giving up after one afternoon in the heat might mean you walked away from a fixable problem. Sometimes the real win is in not listening to everyone who says it's trash.
