TIL spending $180 on a lens wrench set was worth every penny

I fought with a stuck focus ring on a vintage Nikon for a week using needle nose pliers and tape. Bought a proper three-pin spanner set from an eBay seller in Ohio and fixed it in 10 minutes flat. Has anyone else found a tool they were stubborn about buying that actually saved you time and money?

oh man, I feel this so hard. I was using a cheap plastic spudger to try and reseat a ribbon cable on an old laptop and ended up cracking the connector entirely. Finally bought a proper metal spudger set and it's saved me from so many frustrating repair sessions since.

Did you ever try one of those silicone repair mats with the magnetic parts tray? I got one after losing a tiny screw in my carpet and it saved me so much headache.

...and @violag80 I heard that some of those silicone mats actually have a little lip around the edge so screws don't roll off. I just use an old ice cube tray for my small parts, works good enough. Totally agree on the spudger upgrade though, night and day difference.
