My uncle told me to never take a job just for the money back in 2018

He said if you chase the paycheck you'll end up miserable in 2 years. I didn't listen and took a sales role paying $75k plus commission. Hated every day, quit after 18 months with nothing saved because I spent it all on takeout to cope. Now I'm back doing graphic design for $50k and way happier. Anyone else have a relative's advice that actually stuck?

What was the worst job you took just for the money? I did the exact same thing.

Did you see that study about job stress literally shortening your lifespan? Wild.

The takeout spending really hits home - when you're miserable at work, those little comforts add up fast and empty your savings before you know it. It took me a long time to learn that money can't buy back your peace of mind after a bad day at a job you hate.
