Overheard my manager say 'done is better than perfect' and it clicked
I was stressing over a spreadsheet for three days trying to get every color code right. Then I heard my boss tell someone else that on a call and realized I was wasting time on stuff nobody cared about. Has anyone else had a simple phrase suddenly change how you work?

Honestly, I once spent an hour picking a font for a document my boss just wanted in bold. That phrase would've saved me so much time staring at Arial vs Calibri like it was a life choice.

Eight months ago I wouldve sworn up and down that Comic Sans was the only font with personality and that perfecting a document meant using 4 different fonts for headings, body, captions, and footers. Then I had to redo a 30 page report because my boss said it looked like a ransom note and told me to just use Times New Roman and bold the title. Thats when it clicked that most people literally do not care about the difference between Cambria and Baskerville and just want the text to be readable. Your approach of "make it look good enough fast" totally changed how I see it tbh. Now I just pick the first default option and spend that saved time on actually looking over the content instead.

God seriously @olivia670 the font rabbit hole is way too real lmao. I've definitely had those moments where I stress-google "what font says professional but not boring" for a 10 minute task. Arial vs Calibri is like the biggest life or death debate of the modern workplace for no reason at all. I also have a folder of like 40 fonts saved that I've never actually used in my life but maybe someday.
