Still using a tape measure for everything after 12 years, digital measuring tools feel like a waste of money
Last week on a job in Cleveland I watched a guy spend 3 minutes calibrating a laser measure while I had the same cut marked with my old Stanley tape in under 10 seconds, has anyone else found those gadgets slow things down instead of helping?

My buddy Dave went through three different laser levels on a kitchen remodel a few years back. He was dead set on being high tech, kept saying the old ways were too slow. First one gave up halfway through marking a wall and his helper lost the charger for the second one. He ended up finishing the whole job with my orange tape measure I lent him while his fancy tools sat on the truck. He still talks about how those gadgets just broke down on him, now he keeps a backup tape in his tool pouch no matter what.

Oh man, my buddy swore by his digital caliper until it died mid-project and he had to borrow my tape!

Yeah that's rough. Nothing worse than relying on batteries when you're halfway through something.
