Gave up on wooden spoons for silicone spatulas in my saute pans, no regrets
I used to swear by wooden spoons for stirring sauces and sautes, but after scratching my third all-clad pan in a year I switched to high-heat silicone spatulas. The silicone holds up fine at 500F and doesn't absorb flavors or burn like wood does over time. Has anyone else made the switch and noticed a difference in their pan longevity?

Honestly, the flavor thing is huge for me. I never realized how much old wooden spoons were holding onto garlic and onion smells until I switched. Now I can go from stirring a tomato sauce to a delicate vanilla custard without that weird ghost flavor happening. Plus the silicone is way easier to clean, you can just toss it in the dishwasher instead of scrubbing it by hand with soap to make sure it's not greasy or stained.

So how many years until silicone starts holding its own permanent flavors?

@linda_reed I bet silicone lasts forever but that garlic ghost story is honestly terrifying lmao.
