My landlord tried to keep my $2,000 security deposit for 'cleaning' after I left my Logan Square apartment spotless.

Sent a demand letter citing the Chicago RLTO and had the full check in my hand 10 days later. Anyone else had to fight for their deposit in the city?

Honestly, landlords have it rough. That "spotless" to a tenant is often far from move-in ready for the next person. Professional cleaning, paint touch-ups, that stuff adds up fast. Two grand might actually be fair if you really look at the work needed.

Nah, @hannah_west39, that's what a security deposit is for, not cleaning a spotless place.

Read that Chicago landlords must return deposits with interest.
